Education

Is your class, school group or organization interested in learning more about raptors and conservation in Florida? Audubon programs are a tangible way to supplement school curriculum and create a more meaningful experience to learn about nature and birds.

With live bird ambassadors and hands-on activities, participants explore the relationship of people to their natural environment while discovering the role raptors play in our local ecosystems as well as how individuals can have a positive role in the environment.  At the Center or at your location, you can experience the role raptors play in all of our lives.

Education and outreach programs are offered to diverse groups of all ages. If your school or organization requires financial assistance, please contact auduboncbop@audubon.org to request a scholarship application. Applications are reviewed on a case by case basis.

For questions or to schedule any of the programs offered below, please contact the Education team, at auduboncbop@audubon.org or phone 407-644-0190.

School Programs: All programs are science-based and are in compliance with the Florida Sunshine State standards. Each presentation is appropriately targeted for the age group scheduled. Programs are hosted at Audubon Center for Birds of Prey as well as at schools or other offsite locations.

Scouts: Working on a specific badge or just want a fun scout outing? We can help! Audubon offers set badge programs for a few different badges and will gladly create a program to help your scouts earn a specific badge or skill.

Homeschool Groups: We love homeschoolers! Check out the school programs page for details about the programs we offer which can be tailored to fit the ages of your homeschool group.

Adult Groups: Have a garden club, birding club, seniors group, HOA, church, rotary club or another group that’s interested in birds or the environment? We can help with programs at your meetings or host a group field trip to the Center.

Group Tours: Any group of more than 10 people can book a group tour with a docent guide and bird ambassador encounter! We ask for a minimum of 4 weeks advanced notice.

Special Events: The Center for Birds of Prey offers  a unique location for a birthday party, wedding, or corporate event, lunches or meetings? We are happy to accommodate your special event. Contact the education department to get started. Please provide us with 60 days notice.

Virtual Programs: If you would like a virtual encounter with a bird, please contact the education coordinator at auduboncbop@audubon.org for a custom program. Starting at $50 for a 15 minute virtual meet-and-greet with a bird.

Want to help with Education? We offer exciting opportunities for volunteers to educate individuals of all ages in our Docent Program. If you would be interested in becoming one of our Docents, contact the Education team at auduboncbop@audubon.org .
