Our volunteers are a vital part of program operations for community science research, clinical and rehabilitation programs, environmental education, and day-to-day operations.
At Audubon Center for Birds of Prey our volunteer program is diverse, with a variety of service positions and training including but not limited to greeters, feeders, docents, and interns. For a full list of our volunteer positions visit our Volunteer Positions page.

Basic Information
- Most of our regularly scheduled volunteer positions require specific time commitments based on the needs of each position.
- Regularly scheduled adult volunteers must pass a background check. Volunteering can't begin until the background check has been cleared.
- No background check is required for those who only volunteer for one-day events and community science programs.
- The Center for Birds of Prey adheres to high standards of care for our wild and resident raptors which limits unnecessary interactions. Except for medical care or special circumstances, volunteers should not expect to handle raptors.
- Volunteer opportunities for people needing to fulfill court-ordered community service hours are not available.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers have historically provided support across different programs and departments, such as:
- Guest relations
- Youth education programs
- Interpretive programs
- Clinical and resident raptor care
- Grounds maintenance
- Development/fundraising
Group Volunteer Events:
The Center offers four group volunteer events annually (March, June, August, and November). Group events host 10-20 individuals for half a day of volunteering. These events are for larger projects, most involve being outdoors. We greatly appreciate volunteer teams who donate their workday to Audubon. If your organization or business is interested in donating a day of service, please apply here.
Service Learning Volunteers:
Audubon Center for Birds of Prey sometimes offers opportunities for college or high school students needing to complete service-learning hours, please inquire with Diana Ngai, at CBOPVolunteer@audubon.org
We offer unique and comprehensive internships for those looking into getting into the animal field. Click here for more information.
