Spring Break Raptor Camp

Join is for our first ever Spring Break Raptor Camp at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey! Join us this March for an exciting three-day mini camp discovering the different types of raptors and how we can help protect them in the wild. On each day of this three-day camp, campers will explore different raptors and conservation issues and learn to be stewards of their environment. This educational and exciting experience for 1st through 4th graders will include crafts, games, hands-on activities, and live raptor viewing at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey!

Wednesday: Today campers will get to know the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey and learn all about owls! Campers will get to dissect a real owl pellet and create a craft to help prevent bird window strikes.
Thursday: Today campers will learn all about animal care at the Center. They’ll meet our vet techs and run their own Raptor Trauma Clinic with some special plushie patients, create a reusable item to help reduce their waste, and participate in a real raptor training session!
Friday: On the final day we’ll learn about how Bald Eagles were brought back from the brink of extinction, and how we can all help keep them safe. Campers will learn about the water cycle and be eagles themselves in a special game!

Dates: March 20 – 22, 2024 for 1st through 4th graders
Camp is held 9 am- 12 pm, Wednesday – Friday. Cost is $150 per child.

Raptor Camp Summer 2024

Join us this June for an exciting week-long summer camp discovering the different types of raptors and how we can protect them in the wild. This summer’s theme is Sensory Safari and we will discover how birds of prey use their senses, while using our own. On each day of camp, campers will explore different raptors and conservation issues and learn to be stewards of their environment. This educational and exciting experience for rising 1st through 6th graders will include crafts, games, hands-on activities, and live raptor viewing at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey!

Monday: The first day of camp we’ll explore the most important sense for birds of prey: sight. We’ll discover the fastest group of animals on Earth—the falcons, and run our own Raptor Trauma Clinic.
Tuesday: Today campers will discover the amazing world of owls and how they hunt silently. We’ll dissect an owl pellet and go on a listening safari.
Wednesday: Today campers will get to know the only smelling raptors: the Turkey Vultures. They’ll get to become raptor caretakers themselves as they make enrichment for the birds. We’ll also discover which beak is best for which job.
Thursday: Today is all about the sense of touch as we learn about the importance of water and the raptors that rely on it. We’ll meet our biggest birds of prey, the eagles! We’ll also get the chance to make our own reusable item to reduce trash and protect our waterways.
Friday: What is the vestibular sense? On the last day we’ll learn all about this unique birdie sense and test our own. We’ll test how much we’ve learned and meet a bird who is brand new to our Center!

Dates:
June 3rd through 7th, 2024 for rising 1st through 3rd graders
June 17th through 21st, 2024 for rising 4th through 6th graders

Camp is held 9 am- 2 pm, Monday – Friday. Cost is $200 per child.
